The traditional purpose of all greenhouses is to collect solar energy, which is then used by plants by the process of photosynthesis.
By installing a PV greenhouse, customers are replicating this process to produce electricity in large or domestic scale according to size, allowing growers to gain from the benefit of both energies. An added value in some parts of the globe where radiation is too high for certain produce inside the greenhouse is that this radiation is automatically blocked by the PV wafers, thus eliminating the need of covering the greenhouse. The level of shading can vary according to the grower’s needs.
The use of PV Panels will aid a reduction of the annual electricity consumption giving the benefit of decreased electric bills.
In some cases the supply can surpass demand, which in some countries results in electricity companies actually paying the owners for the energy produced.
Euromed’s development of a Greenhouse with Semi Transparent Photovoltaic Panels is already tested in the local market.
The PV Greenhouse is manufactured with an aluminum structure, having a south facing sloped roof according to the sun’s latitude, and consisting of photovoltaic panels on roof and side.
It can be easily adapted to different configurations and custom built according to the customer’s requirements.
